Introducing Aravalli Hill

One of the oldest folded mountain range of the world is the Aravalli hill located across north-west of India. It spreads over around 700 kilometres through Gujarat, Rajasthan, Delhi and Haryana. It stands as natural barrier for our country from many points of view. Our ecology maintains its balance with the help of this old hill since long past. It is a house of various species of flora and fauna. Around 200 species of fauna and full of different kinds of tree are found in the forests of Aravalli hill. The mountain has covered with deciduous forest, swampy area, and low height flat land. Leopard, Hyenas, wolf, porcupine, nilgai, and sambar are some of the common animals found in the hill. The dominant trees of this hill are Dhau, Salai, Dhak, Khejdi, Acacia, Rohida and various shrubs.

Aravalli helps us

·         The range forms a green wall and prevents spreading of desertification of Thar Desert towards Indo-Gangetic plain of India.

·         The desert dust is dropped by striking on high hill and its dance forest trees.

·         This hill range helps to maintain good air quality by filtering dust-mixed air comes from Thar Desert.

·         The hill plays an important role to maintain ground water level which is essential for the local people as well as trees all over there.

·         It is a biodiversity conversation as you can see many animals and trees throughout the hill.

·         The range influence rainfall and wind flow that helps to keep good climate condition all over the Aravalli hill.

·         The area is rich in mineral resources like Marble, Granite, Copper and many precious metals which attract many industrialists to open their industry.

Aravalli is in danger

·         Since Indian supreme court has announced that 100 meter high hills of  Aravali range  is considered as flat land, it become opportunity for many industrialist to open their mines so that they can extract valuable metals and worthy mine products.

·         Though Supreme Court of India has mentioned that only 0.19% of hill area comes under less than 100 meter high hill, still it paves the way for slow demolish of whole Aravalli.

·         Many construction sites have already been started and illegal mining is going on rampantly.

·         No doubt the idea behind such opening is to grow economy of our country but what we are going to lose is terrific from ecology point of view.

·         The hot wind from north-west will enter in India without any barrier, if Aravalli range is raped for human selfishness. The extreme hot wind will not allow regional middle class and poor class people to survive easily.

·         Such changing in climate will prevail all over north India that can be pathetic for life.

·         According to many wise mind that some virus those live on plants in forest will find new host body to survive, if trees are cut. And human being would be their first choice to live with. Such virus can generate new types of disease which is inevitable.

How to save Aravalli Hills

A single person with single effort cannot save the great Aravalli hill. It needs collective effort with novel will. Some politicians interfere with public support to save the natural barrier of India. But do they have divine motive behind it? Hence it is a matter of thinking that we must go with Supreme Court verdict. Blindly following such selfish leaders may push us into trench of difficulty. Yes it is our duty to protest but in legal way. So be alert and drive yourself carefully while being the part of mob in rally. Thank you.
